أبن سنحاريب وحفيد سرجون الثاني وهو من ملوك آشور في الدولة الآشورية الحديثه أعتلى العرش إثر مؤامرة داخلية في البلاط الملكي تزعمها أخوه وراح ضحيتها والده سنحاريب ولكن آسرحدون تصدى للمتآمرين وحاربهم وأنتصر على أخيه وأعلن نفسه ملكا
أعاد النظر في سياسة والده تجاه بابل فأعاد إعمارها واسترضى كهنتها وشيد فيها معابدا كثيرة ؛ وبحكم علاقاته الودية مع بابل عندما كان وليا للعهد فقد استطاع أن يوفق بين العاصمتين بابل وآشور.

Esarhaddon
Sanharib's son and grandson, Sargon II, one of the Kings of Assyrians in the modern Assyrian state, ascended the throne following an internal plot in the royal court led by his brother and killed his father, Sanharib, but asherdon confronted the conspirators, fought them, triumphed over his brother and declared himself king.
He reconsidered his father's policy towards Babylon, reconstructed it, satisfied its priests, and built many temples there, and by virtue of his friendly relations with Babylon when he was crown prince, he was able to reconcile the capitals Babylon and Ashur.
